Useful Phosphine Ligand
| B2027 | 1,1'-Bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene (dppf) (1) |
5g 1g |

The phosphine ligand 1 forms complexes with Group 9 and 10 metals which are used as a catalyst for the formation of a wide variety of C-C bonds. For example, palladium and nickel complexes cleanly and selectively catalyze cross-coupling reactions of organic electrophiles and organometallic reagents without the usual side reactions such as isomerization1).
Rhodium complex with 1 catalyzes hydroformylation of allyl alcohol, which is a convenient route to 1,4-butanediol. This reaction gives a higher linear to branched selectivity than does the triphenylphosphine ligand2).
